Driver kills policeman

No comments:

A driver identified as Bonsu Osei has reportedly killed a policeman who ordered him to come down from his vehicle for parking at an authorized space and obstructing other road users at the Madina Zongo Junction.

Below is the blow-by-blow account of the incident as captured in a statement issued by Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Afia Tenge:

On 28-02-2020 at about 9:00am driver Bonsu Osei was driving Ford Transit bus NO GR4880-20 with two persons on board from Madina heading towards bawaleshie direction along UPSA - bawaleshie road.

On reaching a section of the road in front of the Trinity theological seminary, he was intercepted by G/SGT Moses Appiah and one other officer of Madina MTTD for soliciting for passengers, unauthorized parking and obstruction of other road users at the zongo junction, where they were being pursued.

After he was intercepted SGT. Moses Appiah stood in front of the vehicle and ordered him to come down from the vehicle.

Without any provocation the driver became furious and ran his vehicle over the police officer and he was trapped under the vehicle. He then dragged the police officer on the ground to a distance about 54.50metres injuring him severely. That the suspected driver fled the scene with his vehicle and abandoned the vehicle and bolted.

The police officer who sustained various degrees of injuries was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital for treatment by good Samaritan, but he died shortly on arrival at the hospital.Body of the deceased now deposited at the police hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The mate was later arrested by some members of the public and brought to the police station but the driver is still on the run. Vehicle impounded at the station.

IS THE BIBLE THE WORD OF GOD?

No comments:
Author: Charles Fiossi

Throughout history, religion has shaped human life in many diverse ways. Several religions have emerged with, different gods and goddesses. The most popular ones that are being practiced by a majority of the world's population are Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and the Baháʼí Faith which constitute the Abrahamic religions because they all accept the tradition of the God (known as Yahweh in Hebrew and Allah in Arabic) that revealed himself to Abraham.

The Old Testament is mostly a collection of tales about Bronze Age tribalism, genocides, Slavery, Hate, Vengeance, and condemnation. A large population of about 3.8 billion people claims to get their morals from the Bible. But many of its morals are reprehensible by any human standards. Did you know the Bible not only permits slavery but it says in Exodus 21:20-21 that

20 “Anyone who beats their male or female slave with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result, 21 but they are not to be punished if the slave recovers after a day or two since the slave is their property.

And also, the Bible teaches us on how we should treat our stubborn son. Especially in Deuteronomy 21:18-21 18 If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, 19 his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. 20 They shall say to the elders, “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.” 21 Then all the men of his town are to stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid.

It also says in Deuteronomy 22:28-29 that if a man rapes a girl he only has paid a small fine and then marries her. I will encourage you to go check it out yourself. I went to Sunday school and they conveniently left out those parts. Why should that be so if it is the word of God?

The New Testament also clearly shows that it was written by imperfect humans. The four gospels contradict each other in many significant ways. How could God not know how many generations separated David and Joseph? The gospels report two completely different genealogies. (Luke ch 3:23-28 and Matthew ch 1). There many other irreconcilable inconsistencies that believers simply choose to ignore or never discover because they don’t even read the book they claim to believe very carefully.

Some of the inconsistencies are direct results of the different authors' attempts to rewrite history to be compatible with the properties in the Old Testament. Such as the location of Jesus' birth. Jesus was known to be from Nazareth in Galilee, so the writers of the gospel of Luke fabricated a taxation decree that requires everyone to travel to the city of their birth to provide a false pretense for the birth of the savior occurring in Bethlehem, the city of David as having been prophesied in the Old Testament. No such Taxation or Census was recorded in history at that time. The New Testament even added the phrase So that it might be fulfilled”.

In conclusion, the study of the Bible clearly shows that it was written by imperfect humans who made assumptions about how they think a “God” created the universe and what laws we as humans are expected to obey. Why will God rely on a text that is so open to misinterpretations and filled with inconsistencies, absurdities, immoralities, cruelties to get his message to us if he can literally speak to the hearing of his creation?

I don’t claim to know for sure that no God exists. I simply say that the “God” claims have not met a sufficient burden of proof to convince me that they do exist.

Coronavirus can spread through surfaces, objects - WHO

No comments:

The World Health Organization (WHO) has called for the promotion of regular and thorough hand-washing hygiene, adding that the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) can be contracted when someone infected coughs or exhales.

The global health body released a statement on February 27 titled " Getting your workplace ready for COVID-19". In the document, WHO warned that people can contract the virus if droplets of infected fluid falls on nearby surfaces and objects such as desks, tables or telephones.

The statement reads in part: "People could catch COVID-19 by touching contaminated surfaces or objects and then touching their eyes, nose or mouth – and then touching their eyes, nose or mouth. "If they are standing within one meter of a person with COVID-19 they can catch it by breathing in droplets coughed out or exhaled by them.

"In other words, COVID-19 spreads in a similar way to flu. Most persons infected with COVID-19 experience mild symptoms and recover. However, some go on to experience more serious illness and may require hospital care.

"Risk of serious illness rises with age: people over 40 seem to be more vulnerable than those under 40. People with weakened immune systems and people with conditions such as diabetes, heart and lung disease are also more vulnerable to serious illness."

The document went on to list ways to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the workplace.

The document states: "Make sure your workplaces are clean and hygienic, surfaces (e.g. desks and tables) and objects (e.g. telephones, keyboards) need to be wiped with disinfectant regularly.

"Why? Because contamination on surfaces touched by employees and customers is one of the main ways that COVID-19 spreads.

"Promote regular and thorough hand-washing by employees, contractors and customers.

"Put sanitizing hand rub dispensers in prominent places around the workplace. Make sure these dispensers are regularly refilled. Display posters promoting hand-washing, ask your local public health authority for these or look on www.WHO.int. "Make sure that staff, contractors and customers have access to places where they can wash their hands with soap and water. Why? Because washing kills the virus on your hands and prevents the spread of COVID-19.

"Promote good respiratory hygiene in the workplace. Display posters promoting respiratory hygiene. Combine this with other communication measures such as offering guidance from occupational health and safety officers, briefing at meetings and information on the internet, etc.

"Ensure that face masks and/or paper tissues are available at your workplaces, for those who develop a runny nose or cough at work, along with closed bins for hygienically disposing of them. "Why? Because good respiratory hygiene prevents the spread of COVID-19. Advise employees and contractors to consult national travel advice before going on business trips.

"Brief your employees, contractors and customers that if COVID-19 starts spreading in your community, anyone with even a mild cough or low-grade fever (37.3 C or more) needs to stay at home."

WHO further advised that "employers should start doing these things now, even if COVID-19 has not arrived in the communities where they operate."
