The five-member ad hoc committee set up by the Speaker of Parliament to probe into claims that foreign businesses were levied to sit near President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Ghana Expatriates Business Awards (GEBA) has finished its work.
The committee brought its work to an end on Thursday after meeting a representative of the Controller and Accountant General.
Prior to Thursday’s meeting, all the expatriate businesses invited to face the committee, in-camera, had failed to honour their respective invitations.
This forced the committee to suspend sitting indefinitely.
Some later showed up, according to reports.
On Thursday, the committee chaired by Sunyani East Member of Parliament Kwasi Ameyaw Cheremeh said it will go backroom to work on its report.
It has been given up till Wednesday, January 31 to present its report to the plenary.
According to spokesperson of the committee, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, who is also a member, the report will capture every happening including the initial failure of the expatriates to appear before it.
Among persons who appeared before the committee during its public sitting are MPs Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister of Trade Alan Kyerematen as well as award organisers Millennium Excellence Foundation (MEF) represented by board chairman Ambassador Victor Gbeho and President Ashim Morton.
